The new 6,700m2 Westpac head office fitout spanned three levels within Brookfield Tower 2 in Perth’s CBD.

The fitout was undertaken as a Design and Construct contract. The pre-construction phase involved a high-level of involvement from the SHAPE project team to identify value engineering options while finalising the design collaboratively with design partner Geyer. To achieve the 6-star Green Star and Silver WELS rating, SHAPE engaged a third-party Green Star and commissioning agent to assist with this process. SHAPE worked closely with both Westpac and the consultants to ensure all project expectations were met.

Defect management and rectification commenced four weeks before practical completion, allowing our site team and trade partners to actively close out defects prior to handover.

Overall this project was completed in a very tight program, with the comms room completed within the first 8 weeks – allowing Westpac to enjoy a seamless transition into their new offices.

As a world leader in innovative workplace design and technology, Westpac wanted to improve on its ground-breaking Barangaroo head office development and extend it for its Perth location. The workplace had to be agile, sustainable, and multi-functional, in addition to being at the cutting edge of design.

Their goals were to remain at the cutting edge of design in line with their changing business needs, save significant costs on leasing and operations by amalgamating their two premises in St George’s Terrace, and design a globally recognised workplace that is agile, sustainable, and multi-functional.

Anthony led the project management team providing services including procurement, design management, stakeholder consultation and contract administration.

The project won multiple awards including:

Provide project and financial direction throughout the project lifecycle. The project was originally a typical D&C planned project. However, because of slippage associated with client third party activities, the procurement strategy was modified to incorporate an early works component to mitigate unintended delay. The project was ultimately delivered on-time and on-budget. In addition, the project won an industry award for excellence.
